Title | The 7200 series router fails to boot from Flash disk |
Core Issue | The console displays the %SYS-6-READ_BOOTFILE_FAIL error message during the boot. After timing out, the router drops into boot mode. |
Resolution | To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
Use the Flash disk side by side with linear Flash memory for NPE-200 and earlier systems. Although it is possible to boot from a Flash disk, a bootable image must be maintained on a linear Flash memory card. This is to ensure that the router is bootable if the bootflash software image becomes unusable.
Note: For the Cisco 7200 series router with an I/O controller card, the minimum supported releases for the Flash disk are 12.0(3)T, 12.0(5)S, 12.1(1)E, 12.1(1)T, 12.1(1), 12.2(1) and 12.2(4)B.
